Join Madelyn Ho and Lee Duveneck of Paul Taylor Dance Company for a technique class at Zenon Dance — made possible by a partnership between Northrop and Zenon Dance. This 90-minute workshop for intermediate/advanced dancers delves into signature Paul Taylor style and repertoire featured in the upcoming Northrop program, offering an insider’s perspective on influential movements that helped shape modern dance as we know it. Dancers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes or tights and leotards; class will be barefoot.
Free for all participants, including University of Minnesota students, faculty and staff. Participants will receive a 10% off discount code to attend Paul Taylor Dance Company With Live Orchestra at Northrop on Saturday, Sept. 26.
This class has a capacity of 35 students, and registration is required.

Teaching artist bios:
Madelyn Ho, M.D., is from Sugar Land, Texas, where she began dancing at Kinard Dance School with Shirley McMillan and later trained with BalletForte under the artistic direction of Michael Banigan. She graduated from Harvard College with a B.A. in chemical and physical biology. While there, she was awarded the Artist Development Fellowship and attended the Taylor School Winter Intensive. She was a member of Taylor 2 from 2008 to 2012 and left to attend Harvard Medical School, during which time she was a guest artist for Alison Cook Beatty Dance and performed with Urbanity Dance. She joined the Paul Taylor Dance Company in spring 2015 and completed her Doctorate of Medicine in May 2018.
Lee Duveneck grew up in Arlington, Texas, where he trained with Anne Oswalt and Gwen Price. In 2010, he earned his BFA in dance performance from Southern Methodist University, where he studied with Taylor alumna Ruth Andrien and jazz dance icon Danny Buraczeski. While in New York, he has danced for Annmaria Mazzini, Mari Meade and Jessica Gaynor. Duveneck joined Taylor 2 in 2012 and joined the Paul Taylor Dance Company in summer 2017.

Parking is available in the LOOP Butler Park open-air parking lot on the corner of 1st Avenue and 6th Street (entrances on both 1st Avenue and 6th Street) directly behind Hennepin Center for the Arts. Pay by cash or credit card at the exit. Additional lots and metered street parking are available throughout the neighborhood.
The MetroTransit Light Rail Station nearest Hennepin Center for the Arts is the Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue Station. Take either the METRO Blue or METRO Green Lines, and then proceed one half-block southwest on Hennepin Avenue. Hennepin Center for the Arts is located on the corner of Hennepin Avenue and 6th Street. Northrop-favorite Paul Taylor Dance Company returns for an evening of energetic modern dance with live orchestra, including Taylor’s exuberant “Brandenburgs” (1988) set to Bach; Robert Battle’s searing “No Longer Silent” (2007) with music by Jewish composer Erwin Schulhoff; and a new work by Pam Tanowitz danced to Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden.”
