Zenon Dance seeks to establish a pool of qualified Dance Educator/Teaching Artists to facilitate classes, workshops, and K-12 school residencies for our partner organizations. We invite individuals interested in joining Zenon’s teaching artists, who are committed to fostering children’s developmental growth through dance. Our teaching artists come from a variety of dance backgrounds and experiences, and include accomplished current or former dancers, as well as other professionals in related arts disciplines.
We encourage participation from individuals across all communities and generations in cultural experiences that emphasize exploration and optimism, promote human connections, and inspire collective efforts toward the creation of a more equitable society.
Teaching Artists
In close collaboration with the Zenon Dance, the teaching artist will develop a syllabus and lesson plans for classes, workshops, and K-12 school residencies, attend a one-week paid program planning session, and facilitate hands-on and immersive dance-based experiences for K–Grade 12 students that bring together core curricular content at partner sites.
Qualifications
- 3-5 yearsʼ experience as an active, practicing dance artist and/or dance educator (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts, or experience-based credentials)
- Experience teaching school aged children (3-18 years)
- Access to transportation for travel throughout the Twin Cities area to program sites
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- Cover Letter including Artist & Teaching Philosophy Statements
- Artistic Work Samples & Student Work Samples (if available)
- 2- Professional References
Terms of Employment
Teaching Artists are hired as independent contractors per program opportunity. Compensation is $75-$150 per class, based on partner class arrangement.
