Come and celebrate the arrival of spring with us at a special one-day dance event dedicated to embracing new beginnings. Delight in a vibrant atmosphere filled with dance classes and the refreshing spirit of the season. Join us as we welcome longer days, blooming flowers, and the promise of growth and renewal!
9:30-11:00 am: Laban based Modern w. Erin Landers
This class draws on technical principles and vocabulary from the Humphrey-Limón tradition. We will begin with center exercises that emphasize alignment, coordination, and transfers of weight. We will move into traveling exercises that push our bodies through space and challenge our use of dynamics and musicality. The class will culminate in center phrase work that brings our explorations into fuller expression.
5:30-7:00 pm: Musical Theater Jazz w. Xan Mattek
In this workshop dancers, movers, actors, singers, artists, humans will learn to craft a story arc while dancing a piece of musical theatre jazz choreography. Basic acting techniques such as motivation and telling the story through facial expressions will be encouraged. We will smile and we will sweat!
7:00-8:30 pm: Beg Modern & Dance Making w. Mary Willmeng
In this workshop, participants will explore exercises to ground the body, release tension, build strength, and find greater balance. We will use floorwork, center exercises, patterns across the floor, and choreographed center phrases to play with those principles. We will also practice improvisation and include some exercises to generate our own movement for spontaneous dancemaking! Open to beginning and intermediate dancers, come as you are to express yourself through movement and have fun!

Parking is available in the LOOP Butler Park open-air parking lot on the corner of 1st Avenue and 6th Street (entrances on both 1st Avenue and 6th Street) directly behind Hennepin Center for the Arts. Pay by cash or credit card at the exit. Additional lots and metered street parking are available throughout the neighborhood.
The MetroTransit Light Rail Station nearest Hennepin Center for the Arts is the Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue Station. Take either the METRO Blue or METRO Green Lines, and then proceed one half-block southwest on Hennepin Avenue. Hennepin Center for the Arts is located on the corner of Hennepin Avenue and 6th Street.
